Project Ways Fwd is raising awareness on the relation of human activities and air quality as well as the ability of plants and green areas in the remediation of air pollution.
The often debatable city planning, the elimination of green areas, heavy traffic, or household activities such as cooking (especially on open fire) or burning of rubbish all contribute to the degradation of air quality in urban areas, not to mention the habit of smoking so typical of the region.
Using DIY sensors, installation Urban Data monitors the air quality of Yogyakarta: three samples exhibit the data of a smoking room, an outdoor space polluted by motorbike exhaust, and the interior of installation Designated Breathing Zone.
